Cult Broadway musical Side Show will receive its London premiere at Southwark Playhouse this October.

Featuring a score by Dreamgirls composer Henry Krieger and lyrics by Bill Russell, the 1997 musical is inspired by the true story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton who make ends meet playing a headline act at a seedy side show. When spotted by a talent agent, they find fame and soon become the highest paid vaudeville stars of their time.

The production will be directed by Hannah Chissick, with casting yet to be announced.

Producer Paul Taylor-Mills returns to Southwark Playhouse following his Olivier nominated production of In the Heights and the WhatsonStage award winning production of Carrie: The Musical.

Side Show begins performances at Southwark Playhouse on 21 October, with press night 26 October, and runs through 3 December.

Even nog een tip van huishoudelijke aard. Southwark Playhouse neemt afscheid van hun policy van ‘vrij zitten’. Het maakt nu dus wel uit wanneer je een ticket scoort…..

Ik ben het daar toch niet helemaal mee eens. Meestal heb je overal prima zicht. Vond het juist altijd wel leuk om niet precies te weten waar ik ging zitten omdat de opstelling ook zo vaak verschilde.

Wellicht wilde men af van de chaos vooraf, vooral bij sold out voorstellingen ontstond er steeds vroeger een lange wachtrij en was het enigszins dringen bij de ingang…

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Broadwayworld/Daily Mail melden dat niemand minder dan Louise Dearman en Laura Pitt-Pulford de leading ladies zullen zijn!! Ik zeg: WOW!
